ILCRA Call For Nominations

ILCRA Board service is a wonderful opportunity to grow personally and professionally, develop valuable leadership skills, get an inside look at the work that goes on behind the scenes, and make lasting connections with other passionate and motivated court reporting, captioning, and CART professionals.

Board service is a chance to become involved with the protection of Illinois’ CSR jobs, livelihoods, and the standards to which we hold ourselves throughout the state. You will also have the opportunity to decide seminar topics and services that we offer to our members, all while expanding your network and gaining recognition from your peers, statewide and nationally.

The call for nominations is now open and will close on August 25, 2022. ILCRA is seeking candidates for the following board positions:

Nominating Committee Chair, Georgia Northway, is now accepting nominations for the following ILCRA offices. 

These positions are for the 2022-2024 two-year term:

  • Region Two Freelance (2-year term)
  • Region Two Official (2-year term)
  • Legislative Representative (2-year term)

 Region Two Representative

For purposes of this Association and Bylaws of this Association, Region Two is defined as that region of Illinois consisting of the following counties:  Adams, Alexander, Bond, Brown, Calhoun, Cass, Champaign, Christian, Clark, Clay, Clinton, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, DeWitt, Douglas, Edgar, Edwards, Effingham, Fayette, Ford, Franklin, Fulton, Gallatin, Greene, Hamilton, Hancock, Hardin, Henderson, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Jersey, Johnson, Knox, Lawrence, Livingston, Logan, Macon, Macoupin, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Mason, Massac, McDonough, McLean, Menard, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Moultrie, Peoria, Perry, Platt, Pike, Pope, Pulaski, Putnam, Randolph, Richland, Saline, Sangamon, Schuyler, Scott, Shelby, Stark, St. Clair, Tazewell, Union, Vermilion, Wabash, Warren, Washington, Wayne, White, Williamson, and Woodford.

Legislative Representative

The Legislative Representative, subject to the approval of the Executive Board, shall supervise all matters pertaining to legislation affecting shorthand reporters, and shall, when occasion demands, appear before committees of the General Assembly in support of proper measures and in opposition to unfair legislation, if any should be attempted. The Legislative Representative shall also supervise the Regional Representatives as legislative liaisons for their Regions and shall serve as liaison with any lobbyist associated with or employed by this Association.

Responsibilities of serving on the Board:

The Executive Board meets approximately every six months on Saturday or Sunday in various locations throughout the state or online. We undertake a variety of projects with the work divided according to your ability and available time. All candidates must have e-mail capability.

Some characteristics of a great board member are a willingness to give of his/her time, the ability to have open discussions and to respect other’s opinions even if they differ from his/her own, leadership qualities, professionalism, and business acumen. It is important that the Board is comprised of members from all areas of the court reporting profession.

You may nominate yourself or any other ILCRA member who is interested in volunteering time and talent in furtherance of the profession by filling out the form here and returning it to Georgia Northway. Also required is a written acknowledgement of a willingness to serve by the nominated candidate.
